Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album is an attempt to return to the traditional sextet style and an even more consistent and powerful effort with a harder edge. The more edgier sound of Turn Back was a reflection of the maturation in the group. Drummer Bobby Kimball's increased ability to play was evident in the vocals of Joseph Williams, who had grown more confident and mature. David Paich's keyboard playing was also sharper, more complex and less akin to previous recordings.
